DEPARTMENT FUNTIONS

1. Panel Color Requirement

Color is sometimes determined by the client himself and MOTS painters quickly determine the paint mixtures or color combination to arrive at the desired panel color of the customer’s choice. In the event that the panel color is not specified, MOTS uses its standard panel color of RAL7035 or beige.

2. Surface and Paint Finish

Besides the surface, the paint finish is meticulously inspected to look for smooth and hard surfaces. Hard surfaces means grinding in the assembly is not thorough. Checking the paint finish determines the correctness of the painting process done,
be it epoxy or powder painting.

3. Bolts Connection Tightness

The tightness of bolts and nuts applying the right force or maximum torque limitations is taken into consideration in the assembly of the panel. This includes all kinds of bolts and washers etc. especially in busbars where the kind as well as tightness of bolts prevent panel overheating coming from the busbars.

4. IP Degree of Protection

Standards IEC 529, BS 5420 and NFC 20-010 give a protection index IP which characterizes the ability of equipment to with stand the following external influences

1. Specifications of Components of Devices

Technical descriptions and applications of the components are evidently matched and compared to technical requirements including customer product preferences if any. Such specifications, when not properly checked and verified prior to testing may lead to damages which may affect the performances of other components in the panel or nearby critical loads at site.

2. Installation Procedures and Tolerances

Most components and devices are delivered at the factory with catalogue cuts on mounting and installation procedures. All the instructions are taken into consideration including precautions that the supplier of the product may recommend for proper functioning as it is expected and designed for operation.

3. No Breakages or Damages

Just like installation procedures and tolerances, quality control people see to it that broken or damaged components or devices are immediately replaced and investigated for such reasons. Failure to thoroughly check and inspect the items may lead to serious complications during testing and client’s rejection of the panel in the long run.

4. Completion/Fittings of Materials

Components and devices used are given extra caution prior to testing and ensured that the materials/accessories are fitted / installed properly. For example a small pin or bolt not installed rightly may create problems which may subsequently damage
the whole equipment.

5. Mechanical Check of Materials

Checking for the mechanical operation of components and devices is done several times especially for interlocks of automatic transfer switches and other applications where a gail-free mechanical operation is of great importance.

1. Circuit Continuity Test

The test is conducted by making a point-to-point wiring check using any approved wiring diagrams as basis. In trouble shooting, this is particularly important for many electrical problems have been attributed to no circuit continuity; no wire runs
or misplaced wiring.

2. Ratio Test of PT's and CT's

To ensure correct readings and values, potential and control transformers as well as current transformers undergo ratio test to determine their accuracy which is then decided if it is suitable or not. Ratio test should be directly linked to voltmeter and
ammeter scales for necessary deflection

3. Calibration of Measuring Instruments

MOTS measuring instruments are calibrated on annual basis by a well known certified organization. The Quality assurance department of MOTS having a master log file indicating each equipment calibration due date record, so Quality assurance department is responsible to make the calibration before due date.

4. Protective Relays Test

Relays for measurement and protective functions are properly checked to function as designed and to provide accurate pick ups as installed. Protective relays when not observed properly in operation are sometimes the cause of panel malfunctions because sequence operations and correct timing of pick ups are severely disrupted.

5. Lamp Indications, Alarms and Signals

Quality Control personnel see to it that proper indications or labels are fixed on the panel. Alarms and other signals are also given proper identifications to aid the enduser in operations.

6. Sequence Operation

Critical panels especially control, logic or synchronizing ones require tedious testing and simulation of sequence of operations as specified by the client. Proper sequeneing in the opening and closing of relays, protective instruments to specify the correct logic signals and discrimination of components when required is given a thorough trouble shooting as well as strict quality control.

7. Markings

Quality Control personnel see to it that proper indications or labels are fixed on the panel. Alarms and other signals are also given proper identifications to aid the enduser in operations.

8. Clearance Between Live Parts

Distances clearances between phase to phase or line to line which constitutes the live part are given particular attention. IEC and NEMA standards specify the required clearances for low and high voltages depending on the application which is also adhered to as vital part of quality control procedures.

9. Insulation Resistance Test

Basically this test involves the application of voltages to insulation and the determination of the resistance by Ohm’s Law based on the resulting current flow. The range of acceptable resistance values for an insulating material is very wide so the values obtained from this test are carefully interpreted. In fact, periodic insulation resistance testing is recommended since insulating materials are expected to deteriorate over time.

10. Dielectric Test

This test requires the application of at least five times the actual circuit voltage to the insulation that separates the line voltage from frame ground. The test voltage is twice the rated voltage plus 1000V. It is assumed that if the product can handle the
high-test voltage for one minute, then it can handle power line transients and overloads throughout the insulation’s natural aging.

1. Final Check

This procedure is customary to quality control personnel after finishing a more thorough checking of procedures A to C. This is done on a spot check and serves as a doubling checking for minor items that may have been left out in the process.

2. Test Certificate

After all testing and simulation has been done, Quality Control technicians decide whether the panel deserves their approval by recommending for the issuance of a Test Certificate. Otherwise, production people will have to look to determine the reasons for disapproval and solve it.

3. Packing

Observing the norms of panel packing prior to shipment is equally important for posterity purposes.

4. Shipping

Extra care is likewise taken during shipping of panels for deliveries within the Kingdom. Shipments outside the Kingdom are left at the client’s responsibility. Even for deliveries within the Kingdom, it is seldom that MOTS CO. takes care for the transport. Most of the panels are quoted ex-factory Riyadh.

Company Introduction

Saudi Manufacturing & Technical Systems Co. Ltd. (MOTS Co. Ltd.) is a 100% Saudi owned Company, which was granted License by the Ministry of Industry and Electricity in the year 1992 to manufacture and assemble M.V + L.V Switch gears.

MOTS Emphasis is on manufacturing wide range quality products such as Lighting and Distribution Panel Boards< Low Voltage Switch Boards and Switchgears, Motor Control Panels, Synchronizing Panels, Automatic Transfer Switches both stand by and Prime Power Generator Sets, Instrumentation and Process Display Panels, Kilowatt hour Meter Boards as per SEC standards and other Engineering projects with our professional team of Engineers, Technicians and Sales Personnel.

Components being used in MOTS manufacturing process are mainly GROUPE SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC they are well known about their best quality product and services around the World with approval of major Big Projects around the world. MOTS does not limit to these products only it also deals with all kinds of electrical products solely for the specification and preference as per the project requirements and Customer needs.

MOTS professionals are always ready to extend support in design and selection of appropriate kind of Circuit Breakers to be used as per the requirements of the customers for the protection of both power and lighting Panels. These tasks are mainly done by our Engineering Software ECODIAL and our drawings are done on SEE SCHNEIDER software where the human factor of error will be avoided.
